Best Time to Visit Bhutan

Bhutan is one of the blessed countries to have seasonal variations. There are distinct months of summer, winter, spring and fall, making the climate in Bhutan magical and a perfect year-round destination. June to August is considered the low season due to the rains, which makes trekking less of an option.

The best time to visit Bhutan is during the spring months of March to May when the valleys come alive with flowers in bloom. Bhutan for 6 Nights /7 Days - A sample itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Phuentsholing

Dinner

Upon arrival in Phuentsholing you will be met by our company representative and then proceed for permit formality. Dinner and overnight stay in Phuentsholing.

Day 2: Phuentsholing to Thimpu (6 hours)

-Breakfast, Dinner

After breakfast you will drive to see nearby Zangtog Pelri Lhakhang in the heart of the town and Kharbandi Gonpa before proceeding to Thimphu. The drive to Thimphu is very scenic once you climb up from the Indian plain to Bhutan foot hills through beautiful forest, towns and road side villages. The drive will pass through Gedu, Chukha, and Chuzom before emerging into the only multi culture city in Bhutan. On arrival check-in at hotel. In the evening you can explore the city by walk. Dinner and overnight in Thimphu.

Day 3: Thimpu sightseeing

-Breakfast, Dinner

Morning after breakfast visit the weekend market, Handmade paper Mill, School of Arts and Crafts where students learn 13 different arts used predominantly in Bhutan. Afternoon drive pass by Memorial Chorten (temple) built in memory of the late 3rd King. Visit Changangkha Lhakhang, the oldest temple in the valley, Enclosure where national animal, Takin are kept and Zilukha Nunnery. Dinner and overnight in Thimphu.

Day 4: Thimpu to Punakha (2 ½ hours)

-Breakfast, Dinner

After breakfast proceed to Punakha via Dochula pass, at 3150m. The road winds up passing through small Tibetan settlements and hamlets. See the panoramic views of eastern Himalayan range, the colourful displays of Buddhist prayers flags and the 108 chorten. Further drive town to Punakha.

Visit Punakha Dzong, majestically standing on an island between the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers, the city’s Dzong is one of the most photogenic of all Bhutan’s ancient fortresses, and you will see pictures of it hanging in hotels and restaurants throughout the country. The Dzong is joined to the mainland by an arched wooden bridge, and contains many precious relics from the days when successive kings reined the kingdom from this valley. The Dzong serves as winter home of the monastic body.

En-route you will hike to Chimi Lhakhang, temple of fertility which is associated with religious arts of phallus. The temple is very famous for getting blessed for having healthy child and for childless parents and couples. Dinner and overnight in Punakha.

Day 5: Punakha to Paro (1 ½ hours)

-Breakfast, Dinner

Today after breakfast retrace the drive to Paro. Visit the National Museum, the first of its kind which has a collection from natural history to religious paintings. Visit 17 century Paro Dzong (Fortress) on foot and continue walking through the oldest wooden bridge still in use. Evening stroll old Paro town and peep into some local handicrafts stores. One can also venture out to try some local dishes in a local restaurant. Dinner and overnight in Paro.

Day 6: Paro sightseeing

-Breakfast, Dinner

After breakfast you visit Kichu Lhakhang, one from the 2 oldest temples in the country, historic Drukgyal Dzong (Fortress) and hike to Tiger’s Nest, the most revered temple in the country that literally hangs on a granite cliff overlooking the Paro Valley. Dinner and overnight in Paro

Day 7: Paro - Departure

-Breakfast

After breakfast you will check-out from hotel and transfer to airport for your return journey to home with sweet memories of your holidaying in Bhutan to cherish lifelong.
