Best Time to Visit Agra

The best time to visit Agra is in the winter season between October and March. The weather during this time of the period is mostly pleasant. This also happens to be the peak travel season for Agra when the weather is perfect for sightseeing. During these months, you will be able to enjoy the city without breaking a sweat. The maximum average temperature during this season is around 30⁰C but in December and January, the minimum temperature can be as low as 2⁰C. Dense fog engulfs almost the entire North India during this time of the year with minimal visibility. Flights, trains and road transportation gets frequently affected in these months.

During the summer the weather can be very hot, specially between April – June with temperatures crossing 40⁰C. July-September are relatively better, this also happens to be the monsoon season in North India, the weather can get bit humid. August in particular sees the maximum rain.

Day 1: Arrival in Delhi

This day you arrive in Delhi. Delhi, India’s capital territory, is a massive metropolitan area in the country’s north. Showcasing a perfect blend of history and modernity, Delhi has a rich collection of mesmerizing places that reflects its past. You will check-in your hotel and later go out shopping / or just prefer relaxing in the hotel. Dinner and night stay in Delhi.

Day 2: Delhi sightseeing

After breakfast morning sightseeing tour of Old Delhi covering The Jama Masjid an architectural gift given by Emperor Shah Jahan, and one of the largest mosques in India. You can enjoy a rickshaw ride around Chandni Chowk, one of oldest markets of Delhi and drive around the massive Red Fort. Visit Raj Ghat, The memorial of Father of Nation ‘Mahatma Gandhi’.

Afternoon sightseeing tour of New Delhi covering Qutub Minar, world’s heritage site, built in 1199 AD is the highest sandstone minaret in the world (73m) and visit India Gate, built to commemorate the 70,000 Indian soldiers who died in the 1st world war. Humayun’s Tomb, this red sand stone structure is considered to be the predecessor of Taj Mahal. Also an orientation drive around Rashtrapati Bhawan, Parliament House, The government buildings and visit to Gurudwara Bangla Sahib (religious place for the Sikh community). Dinner and night stay in Delhi.

Day 3: Delhi to Agra (205 kms /4 hours)

After breakfast drive to Agra, enroute you will visit Mathura. One of Hinduism’s seven sacred cities, Mathura is the birthplace of Lord Krishna. Mathura and Vrindavan are often considered twin cities (located only 10km away from each other). Mathura is a small town dotted with temples from various ages and attracts a horde of pilgrims from all over the world.

Day 4: Agra sightseeing

Today morning visit to the World famous Taj Mahal (1631-1653) closed on Fridays; a poem in white marble, built by Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaj Mahal. Next visit the Agra Fort, built by the great Emperor Akbar in 1565 A.D, is a master piece of design with beautiful mosques and palaces, Itmad-ud-Daulah – one of the most beautiful Mughal Tombs, sometimes called as the ‘Baby Taj’. Evening you can visit the local markets for shopping. Dinner and night stay in Agra.

Day 5: Agra to Jaipur (230 kms /5 hours)

Today after breakfast drive to Jaipur. On the way visit Fatehpur Sikri; it is a beautiful and deserted medieval city built by Emperor Akbar in the 16th century to serve as the capital of his vast empire. The Mughals later abandoned this city due to lack of water. On arrival Jaipur check-in at hotel.

Jaipur is the biggest and the capital city of Rajasthan. It is known as the Pink City due to the distinct colour of its buildings, now mostly confined to the old parts of the city. Dinner and night stay in Jaipur.

Day 6: Jaipur sightseeing

After breakfast proceed for a half-day excursion trip to Amber Fort, which is the classic romantic Rajasthani fort palace. Enjoy an elephant ride while ascending the fortress. Once on top, stroll through the sprawling complex of courtyards and halls. In the afternoon visit City Palace –a delightful blend of Mughal and traditional Rajasthani architecture, Jantar Mantar, is the largest and the best preserved of the five observatories built by Jai Singh II in different parts of the country. This observatory consisting of outsized astronomical instruments is still in use; visit to Hawa Mahal, the ornamental facade of this “Palace of Winds” is a prominent landmark in Jaipur. Their five-storey structures of sandstone plastered pink encrusted with fine Trelliswork and elaborate balconies. Dinner and night stay in Jaipur.

Day 7: Jaipur -Departure
